Who is SP Newsprint ? |
|
SP Newsprint Co. (SP) is a general partnership between Cox Enterprises, Knight Ridder, and Media General. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the company operates newsprint mills in Dublin, Georgia, and Newberg, Oregon. Annual newsprint production totals almost one million tons. Old Newspapers (ONP) provide the primary fiber used for newsprint production, with almost one million tons consumed annually. The Dublin mill uses ONP exclusively as its fiber source, while the Newberg operation can flex between 40% and 55% ONP. Wood Fiber accounts for the balance of the fiber consumed. SP Recycling Corp. (SPRC), a wholly owned subsidiary, is responsible for the company's fiber procurement. SPRC purchases ONP through its 23 divisions, which operate in the southeast portion of the United States, as well as from outside sources. Wood chips are also procured from outside sources. |
